Ohio is an employment at will state. What that means is that in Ohio, unless there is an employment contract (usually a union contract) that controls when an employee can be terminated, an employee can be fired for any reason or no reason, just not for an illegal reason. Typical illegal reasons we see are discrimination based on race, sex, religion, age, disability, national origin or pregnancy, or retaliation against workers for exercising protected legal rights, such as their rights under FMLA or workers' compensation, whistle blowing, or asserting their rights under labor laws. (Such as being terminated for discussing wages or making complaints about safety issues, either internally or to OSHA. One of the more common complaints we have seen has been retaliation against people for making complaints about discrimination or sexual harassment.

If you believe you have been illegally discharged, or discriminated against or harassed in the workplace to the extent that it has seriously impacted your job or your earnings, we want to help you. We encourage you to take advantage of our experience. Contingent fees are available in many cases, so you would not pay us fees unless you win. Free consultations are available. Call us and see what we can do to help you! (419)697-2424
